Without Mbappé, Neymar and Messi, PSG successfully enters the Coupe de France

Hierarchy respected despite everything: without its stars and without shining, Paris SG ended up overcoming Châteauroux (National), Friday January 6 in the 32nd final of the Coupe de France (3-1).

VSertes there is victory, but PSG made a very sad figure in Berry. Between absences in spades, inexperienced youngsters and transparent substitutes like Soler and Sarabia, Christophe Galtier struggled to find the solution… the trigger only finally came in the last quarter of an hour for the most successful club in the Coupe de France (14 ).

With Hakimi and Mbappé on vacation, Messi in recovery, Neymar in care and Verratti suspended, the Parisian technician therefore fielded an experimental team, despite the presence of Navas and Marquinhos. In defense, the captain had to deal with the returning Bernat and the young Mukiele and Bitshiabu. Place for hope also in the middle, since Zaire-Emery (16 years old) and Gharbi (18 years old) supported Vitinha. Finally in attack, the substitutes Soler, Sarabia and Ekitike have finally been put in the spotlight in the absence of the “MNM”.

Unfortunately for PSG, only the former Rémois shone. He first put himself in value from the kick-off by forcing Delecroix to a reflex foot stop. Untouchable, PSG then logically opened the scoring thanks to the slender striker, who deceived the doorman castelroussin on a discount from Gharbi (1-0, 13th).

A jostled capital club

But, little by little, the “Berri” returned to its gala match, in a Gaston-Petit stadium with a full gauge with more than 14,000 spectators. Maxence Flachez’s men even ended up equalizing, on a shot from Ntolla deflected by the unlucky Bitshiabu (1-1, 37th). Better, the Castelroussins even failed twice to pass thanks to Roux (43rd) then to a center shot from Youssouf diverted by Navas on his post (48th).

Opposite, PSG pushed but came up against an excellent Delecroix. The Berry goalkeeper released the recovery of the twirling Gharbi (29th) then won over Ruiz (66th) and Mukiele (69th). But by dint of trying, the Parisians ended up cracking the doorman. Soler, completely absent until then, freed PSG with a hit-and-miss goal (2-1, 78th), taking over a header from Ekitike once again blocked by Delecroix.

Bernat finally locked qualification in stoppage time (3-1, 90 + 1)… Not brilliant, against a Châteauroux who has been vegetating in the third French level since its acquisition by the Saudi prince Abdallah ben Moussaed in March 2021. La Berrichonne does not even manage to play the leading roles in National and changed coach at the end of November, when it is bogged down in 14th place in its championship, far from Ligue 2.
